Spring 2020 FW Trends: The Jewellery Edit
19.09.19

The four-city September fashion week circuit is always a time we look forward to - Spring fashion seems to have a thing for statement jewellery.

Now that we're three weeks deep into the international shows, read on for some of the top jewellery trends that have emerged thus far, including a few of our favourite street-style looks.

LR: Brandon Maxwell at NYFW, L&O Vintage Givenchy Downtown Necklace, $1,890, Zimmermann at NYFW.

CHAINS

We love that chains are generally not the first texture one would think of for a spring-ready outfit - some of our favourite looks featured OTT chains in gold, silver, rhinestones and enamel.

Take a cue from Zimmermann and Brandon Maxwell and use a chunky statement chain piece to ground pretty florals and lace like fabric in an unexpected way.

Get the look with our Vintage Givenchy Downtown Necklace and Vintage Brooklyn Earrings.

Ulla Johnson at NYFW, L&O Vintage Emanuel Ungaro Capri Ring, $349, and Corsica Earrings, $389

SHELLS

A more obvious trend for the warmer season, shells in all forms and styles featured heavily at NYFW darling, Ulla Johnson.

Get the look with our 1970s Emanuel Ungaro Capri Ring and Vintage Corsica Earrings.

LR: Oscar de la Renta at NYFW, L&O Vintage Sophia Crawlers, $289, Alberta Ferretti at Milan FW, Olympia by L&O Aria Hoops, $589, Carolina Herrera at NYFW.

BOLD AND GOLD

Whether in simple hoop form or with rhinestones for a little added bling, statement gold jewellery has reigned another season, our favourite examples being at Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler and Alberta Ferretti this show season.

Get the look with our Olympia Aria Hoops, Vintage Sophia Rhinestone Crawler Earrings and matching Collar Necklace.

Jason Wu at NYFW, Olympia by L&O Deity Earrings, $929, Tory Burch at NYFW, street style at London FW, Olympia by L&O Melos Earrings, $699.

PEARLS

IF you've been following us for a while, by now you'll know that pearls are a staple at L&O, especially when applied in an unconventional way.

We've loved the fresh take on our favourite stone at Jason Wu, Erdem and just a about every second street styler en route to the shows.  Get the look with our Olympia Deity Earrings, Cypriot Hoops and Melos Earrings.

How to wear jewels as the weather cools

Alongside cosy wines by the fire,  romantic rainy evening dates and, most excitingly, ski-season, with the incoming cold season comes new opportunities to think outside the box when it comes to dressing.

As the temperature continues to drop, we've been looking to sartorial inspiration which has us reaching for our jewellery box just as much, if not more so than we do during the warmer months.
