On Our Radar | A Winter Event Calendar Worth Dressing Up For
25.06.20

Now that outing and abouting has become the norm again, we've been looking forward to making plans ahead of schedule with our friends and loved ones.

If you are based in Auckland or have plans to visit soon, and you've been looking for things to do while the cooler weather continues, here's our roundup of what we're looking forward to enjoying in the city and, of course, what we'll plan to wear for each occasion.

The Royal New Zealand Ballet - Venus Rising

There's nothing quite like getting dressed up for the Ballet so we are excited to see tickets will be going on sale this week for the Royal New Zealand' Ballet's latest work, Venus Rising.

The piece comprises four extraordinary works, by inspirational and internationally renowned choreographers, capture the spirit and power of Venus Rising – brightest of stars, herald of the dusk and of the dawn.

Learn more about the work and book your tickets here.

We'll be pairing one of our favourite silk blouses with high waist tailoring, our Olympia Annah Triple Hoops in Gold and our Olympia Babette Ring with Baroque Pearl, White Topaz and Lapis Lazuli.

Gow Langsford Gallery - Virginia Leonard | Breath Holder Exhibition | Final Weekend

There's nothing quite like perusing a favourite gallery on a rainy day and with many of those on the horizon, we're looking forward to taking a peek at the latest from artist Virginia Leonard, currently at Gow Langsford Gallery but only for one more week - so we'd recommend a visit this weekend before it's too late!

As poems constructed from her clay language, Leonard’s ceramics delight in the viscera of her body. The large structures recall the quotidian shapes of vases, jugs, and urns, but are abstracted. gleaming reliquaries of the artist's spirit.

Our rare vintage Celine Triomphe Bag is the perfect weekender for such an activity, and its water resistant canvas construction means you can feel safe hopping from gallery to gallery, to cafe, even if the sky decides to provide a little mid-afternoon downpour.

Breakfast Dates at Amano

Part of every Aucklander's staple diet, Amano kept us going in Level Three with their stellar takeout coffee app, whilst dreams of their beautiful in-restaurant dining kept us feeling hopeful for brighter days to come.

Post lockdown we've been swapping our usual brunch dates for earlier breakfast outings at Amano as a way to make the most of the day.

For causal occasions, we're never not without our Olympia Allegria Stacker Rings - in either solid sterling silver, 18kt gold plate or a mixture of the two for a two-tone look.

Our Allegria stacker rings in Silver and Gold are perfect for everyday - we love mixing metals for a more casual look; Breakfast at Amano, a firm favourite.

Elevated takeout from Barulho Parnell

Whist we've been enjoying gallivanting around the city and dreaming of upcoming local escapes, we've also gotten quite used to the idea of entertaining at home. The ritual of preparing food for loved ones with thoughtful dining table settings kept the creativity flowing during lockdown and is something we'll look to continue on with.

For those days where timing is tight but the idea of enjoying a delicious meal at home is just what the doctor ordered, we've been enjoying the pick up dining menu from our friends at Barulho, Parnell on (possibly too) frequent occasion.  Available for next day pick up from Tuesday to Saturday, everything is provided ready to heat and enjoy when the moment strikes, and to finish, their heavenly desserts are to die for.

We'll be continuing to enjoy the fruits of their labour over candlelight and dried fleurs - pair these 20th Century Crystal Candlestick Holders from The Edit with our Midnight arrangement and rare collectible vase, in collaboration with Grace and Flora.

Our Crystal Candlesticks are the perfect pairing for a candle-lit dinner and dessert, made simple yet uncompromisingly divine via Barulho's take home menu.
