Summer Holiday Guide... According to Love & Object
14.12.16

We cover off what to wear, how to mind your P's and Q's, key beauty buys and of course, our favourite gifts to wrap up this festive season.

WHAT TO WEAR
The shift from work into holiday mode will happen a lot faster if you choose outfits that are slinky, fun and don't feel too fussy to wear.

Our go-to evening ensemble this season involves E von Dadelszen's Cosima column dress, a pair of vintage Chanel Coco earrings and a deep red lip. For pool side BBQs that are likely to go on after dark, wear yours over a swim suit and pair with hoop earrings

ETIQUETTE

Want to fill the room with laughter and dancing? Request a phone free party and provide a Polaroid camera for Kodak moments. Guests can take their favourite snaps home with them or you can mail a few out post party.

Remember to bring along a gift for the host. If you know them well, select a coffee table book they'll love or something for the home. Dog owners will love a slightly frivolous gift for the resident fur baby. For new acquaintances, pass on cut flowers or candles. Bring beautifully packaged confectionaries instead.

As host, don't specify an overly early leaving time for guests. It can feel unwelcoming and later on is when things are likely to get interesting.

GIFTING
Have a few smaller gifts in mind for someone special? Call upon the Christmas stocking and wrap each gift before popping it in. Why should young ones have all the fun?

Attach a handwritten note alongside the present and make a small hint as to what's inside. This is especially worthwhile for big ticket items where you want to tease a little and hike up the anticipation.

BEAUTY
Wear your hair down always? Pull together a loose up do, then clip on some duster earrings. The added length will slim and frame the face.

Black kohl eye liner will always have its place but we love the rich hues of the Tom Ford eye palette to make our eyes pop.

Want to try a new look? Visit your favourite brand's beauty counter for a makeover. You'll leave with new skills and products to match.

SEASONAL TIPS
Do serve champagne. And one simple cocktail, like a negroni. If it's hot out and you're hosting a bbq or pool party, add a slice of cucumber and ice to the champagne glass. Refreshing and the boys will love it too.

Going straight from work? Remember to leave your usual work bag and take out a glam clutch instead. Super easy to dance with and if it's anything like this one, it'll double as a conversation starter.

At Home with Isabelle Weston of The Britten Stables

Over the past year we have had the pleasure of staying at The Britten Stables n Christchurch a number of times - our accomodation of choice whenever visiting our Cantabrian stockists and holding our vintage trunk shows. In time, we've been lucky to get to know the gorgeous owner of the landmark location, Isabelle Weston.

Running the space is a full time job in itself and now with two gorgeous girls in tow, Adaline and Raphaela, we were thrilled when Isabelle kindly agreed to spend a few minutes with us to chat with us about the restoration, her approach to style, and how she's been dealing with life's big changes over the last few months, just in time for Mother's Day...
