Take a look at our offering and it is likely obvious that we love our pearls...

Formed within the shell of a pearl oyster, they are a highly prized gem - so valued have they been in history, that pearl jewels were often buried with their owners.

While it isn't known exactly when or how the first pearl was discovered, there are many legends surrounding this mythical stone.  Believed to be the tears of the gods according to Ancient Greek mythology, they also symbolise generosity, integrity and loyalty - perhaps why they are often worn by brides on their special day (and a wonderful gift idea, if you or someone you love has impending nuptials on the horizon).

Beautiful Baroque pearls before they are transformed into our Olympia Babette Ring.

In ancient Asian cultures, the pearl also represented the journey of the soul or spirit along the path to perfection. The smooth wholeness and seemingly “magical” appearance of pearls in lifeforms as plain as oysters indicated the presence of divinity.

We are always conscious to ensure there are pearls present in every collection we curate and design. As well as their rich histories, we love them for their unique texture and adaptable nature - they have the ability to be worn at both uber-casual and the most formal of occasions alike.

Within our Olympia collection, we use all-natural pearls. Recently we introduced Biwa pearls, via our Deity earrings. Hailing from Lake Biwa in Japan they are uniquely shaped, organic oblong pearls. Though most often we work with natural Baroque pearls, as seen in our Buena Earrings, below.

The soft, lustrous orbs are commonly associated with the moon thanks to their spherical shape and light tone  - a connection that is further reinforced by the moon’s close relationship with the sea – where pearls are born.
