We don't quite know when the global affection for hoop earrings started back up. Did our collective fancy for these versatile swingers ever really go anywhere, or were some of us simply too young and unaware? What's certain is that hoops are in, and have been for a while now.
The best part? Designers aren't stopping at one reference point, and by extension, neither are those who wear them. We're coveting gold, turquoise and two-tone ones. Even lacquered, disco-inspired variations.
Celine absolutely smashed it during the SS2016 showings in the hoop department. Models walked with a squeaky clean face, a red lip and a shiny black hoop in each ear. The look was both bold and low-maintenance, completely in check with current leanings towards the 'skin care first, make up second' vibe.
We've been wearing our (many) pairs with a low messy bun, or sleek pony. We've also been keeping the area around our shoulders and décolletage relatively free from too much detail or pattern, clothing wise.
