Trans-Seasonal Dressing

Trans-Seasonal Dressing
The way you dress in between times of predictable season weather. Inspires messy closets, impulse buying and climatic confusion.
Synonyms: No woman's style land, weather limbo.

When the evenings remain crisp but days become lighter and longer, our wardrobes can often leave us feeling perplexed about what to wear. You are in charge the rest of the year, with a strong, cosy winter look and an even stronger summer vibe, flush with flimsy dresses and tanned shoulders. But the in-between months inspire panic; why does it rain one minute and strobe sunshine the next? Why can’t the heavens behave themselves for the sake of outfits everywhere?

A fluid wardrobe that rolls with the punches can seem almost mythical in times like these. You’ll more likely be frozen in a dysfunctional state, where “I have nothing to wear” becomes a daily reflection, and all you see is winter’s pilled sweaters. This goes for even the most stylish women. But instead of relenting and dropping their A-Class act, they take a second, and turn to their style muses for guidance.

At Love & Object, these are referred to as our ‘Muse Moments’. The fashionistas we follow on Instagram, or see in magazines, have routinely saved us from throwing something questionable together. From us to you, here are three of our favourite beauties to inspire in a time of need. No quick fix clothing purchases or costly mistakes required.

Supermodel Anja Rubik provides us a myriad of downtown luxe options for those that need to run from errands to cocktail hour without the stress of a wardrobe change. Think tees, leather and jackets in mono-chrome hues.

Fashion princess Olivia Palermo is the lady who made eclectic dressing sophisticated and cool - without the try-hard factor. Scroll through images of OP online to figure out how to get the most mileage out of your winter and summer separates. Never thought you could pair your overalls with a summer cocktail top? Well you can and it looks so good. Just add gold accessories to keep the look meeting rather than play time appropriate.

A euro ingénue, Pernille Teisbaek is the street-style star who makes us believe we can look effortlessly cool everyday, in any weather. A true artist of mixing evening separates with laid-back basics, she can pull together a silk blouse, big earrings and a pair of Levi’s to perfection.
